What is Data Conversion?
Data conversion unlike tape conversion which we regard as the transfer of data between different tape or disk media formats, requires a comprehensive understanding of the data stored on the media and manipulating and converting it into a format that you can use.
Data conversion maybe required at many different levels of the data transfer process and requires an in-depth understanding of data, knowledge that Altirium's technical staff have acquired by studying and analysing terabytes of computer data from hundreds of different backup storage and file formats.
Data conversion can mean:- Converting from one backup format to another e.g. BackupExec to ARCserve or vice-versa.
- Converting EBCDIC Mainframe to ASCII (PC data).
- Migrating data from AS/400 SAVOBJ/SAVLIB backup to CSV (Comma Separated Value) files.
